A g
oofy looking boat from Absolute Yachts. T
he high freeboard makes
it look clunky and
the windows in the hull look weird imo. Their whole lineup has this feature.
Allegedly this is designed in Italy. Ick.

Yea, that is ugly. So they wanted to make it look like a speedboat even though it’s 40 feet long and has forward and aft cabins?

It’s like I took the deck of a boat and stretched it upwards in Photoshop to make room for rooms.

Mid cabin, actually.

For me, it is the lack of side wrap around on the windshield that makes it look so...chunky might be the work I’m look for. That also strikes me as a regrettable choice from the standpoint of wind/spray/weather protection, but maybe this is a boat intended for only the nicest days out on the Rivera when such plebeian concerns don’t matter.

It’s like a bowrider or ski boat with an oddly proportionate 3' tall man driving it!
Hopefully he’s blasting some rap music, despite his upper class whiteness.

I’m all about high freeboard and stubby nose boats. I like that nordhav n/ocean class boat look. Granted I totally don’t understand this new sport cruiser trend of building a giant hull with an open deck. but then again I don’t really “get” cruising for cruising sake...maybe i need more money.

It’s like they chopped the roof off an express cruiser. I don’t hate it.
Roadster-esque version of this.

Yeah, it’s really only half that height and the hull windows are ‘shopped in.
Again... Ick.

See, this is so much better

That’s fine for a flybridge convertible but for a runabout like this?
Ick, I say.

That boat has a better proportion, but the cutouts in the hull for huge windows is disconcerting to me. I think I’ve seen other mfrs copy it though, so maybe that’s the New Thing.

it really is. I mean, so long as the frames are well build and integrated they shouldn’t be an issue and they certainly make the lower deck more pleasant.

boat belt lines are taking after automotive belt lines.

I really hate high freeboards

They’ve been for a while... gets you more cabin space. I’m not a fan.

Well if they’re doing it for side impact standards.. /s

yeah aesthetic should always take precedence over utility. If we lose our sense of aesthetic than what separates us from the animals.

High freeboard boats in general tend to just look like shoes.

Why the hell does a freshwater boat need a cabin?

All Italian companies carry the gene for making fluid designs. Sometimes that fluid is vomit.

Why not? I’d spend a weekend on my boat on the lake if it was roomy enough?

“I’m not a fan.”
If you’re not a fan, then are you a pencil?

Meh, not my style. That looks like something my kids would build with Legos.
I like more conventional designs from Christen
sen and Fincantieri.

They make traditional designs too

You couldn’t pay me to navigate the
Great Lakes on a boat that didn’t have a cabin.

You can also charter some of their heritage yachts from the 80's and earlier. There’s some pretty fantastic designs in that section of their site.
